Residence Hall Association Director Of Community Outreach
I advanced from being in hall council freshman and sophomore years to two positions on the executive board and head of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee by junior and senior year. In my role I curated events aimed at fostering more equity in residence halls by celebrating different cultures and traditions as well as having difficult conversations about inequality both at GW and in the U.S. at large. I curate an organization focused on fostering a non-competitive community as well as providing networking and informational events in order to compensate for the loss of the university pre-law advisor. In my role, I oversee weekly meetings of the cabinet directors to ensure all 55 members are gaining the necessary resources to succeed and programming is being executed in the most efficient way possible. I organized and sorted roughly twelve hundred papers within their cases to then scan and download into Clio software in order to ensure that they were available for review. I created around five subcategories per file, including “Appellant Briefs”, “Police Documents”, and “Privacy Release Forms” so that the attorneys had succinct files when looking over cases.
Volunteer
I collaborated with different groups around the DC area to prepare meals for the underserved population. I also organized and divided work between different team members in order to maximize productivity. Before beginning preparation, I taught younger members of the group the correct way to prepare meals, including sanitization practices and lessons on cooking various dishes.
Intern
I have assisted two case workers in finding various organizations and federal paperwork such as tax forms to help constituents, especially veterans, in need of assistance. In addition, I have answered 25 phone calls a day from constituents both praising and condemning the Congressman’s statements and recorded their concerns in the Intranet Quorum database for the Congressman to view and consider. I often organized the Congressman’s schedule by finding different events and logging them in a Google Calendar and scanning an average of five invitations per day. I often packaged and addressed letters to constituents for various events within the district, following a certain procedure due to the mail being franked. Finally, I led an initiative to revamp the Congressman's social media and online presence, often reading documents touching on the rules and regulations of Congressional Social Media as well as budgets and plans.
Intern
I researched relevant daily news twice a week in order to provide a different, unbiased perspective on topics including politics and international affairs to the public from news sources such as CNN, Fox News, and The Hill. I also selected and summarized eight contrasting arguments on various issues in order to display both sides of an issue to readers in an effort to provide well-rounded news. Lastly, I uploaded text and summarizations to the ChangeRoots website so that information was being consistently updated for the public to view and donate to or against different politicians' campaigns.
