Responsibilities and achievements in this role included:Defining and establishing the business function of internal communications – a new function for the charity; Developing and implementing internal communications plans for a range of projects using a variety of channels;Auditing a failing intranet; designing a new homepage and structure; mastering an unusual software platform; increasing visits to the intranet by creating new content areas, including a Chief Executive’s blog;Creating regular all-staff communications in a range of media about a variety of topics, such as strategic reviews, major project wins, redundancies and business-as-usual IT and HR updates;Designing and producing a new, fortnightly, all-staff e-newsletter;Designing and implementing a new briefing and cascade system to improve the dissemination of information across the charity and strengthen management culture;Managing a new programme of webinars to enable effective information sharing across the charity;Mastering a number of new software packages quickly;Designing consistent email signatures to be used across the charity; scoping software for technical implementation;Creating new encryption screens to increase awareness of the charity’s mission to all colleagues;Introducing new platforms, such as Yammer, and supporting their use;Developing a range of communications to support the implementation of a change programme;Working with colleagues of all levels around the UK to ensure their communications needs are understood and addressed;Collaborating particularly closely with colleagues working in Brand, Digital, Marketing, Volunteers, IT and HR to ensure their work is supported across the charity and messages are shared consistently with different audiences;Organising and managing a programme of senior management visits across all the charity’s offices around the UK.

This was a maternity cover position.I managed and developed internal communications for both staff and students at the School. I worked with departments across the School drafting internal communications for various audiences to be distributed through a number of channels. I produced weekly e-newsletters - Staff News and Student News - creating content and editing copy provided by colleagues and students from all over the School to fit the house style which engages a range of readers. I also wrote and edited notices for the whole School to ensure they were informed of important works such as IT upgrades and School events. I created, uploaded and updated content for both the intranet and the School's public facing website, with topics ranging from the latest university rankings to recent media mentions of LSE as well as 'Research Highlights' pieces where I interviewed academics about their work. I also created and published social media content across our many popular platforms ensuring any story we produce reaches as wide an audience as possible. I introduced the use of Hootsuite to allow us to schedule social media content and use our platforms to support our other work more effectively and strategically. I wrote articles for the alumni magazine 'LSE Connect' and worked in our new media studio facilitating live on-air interviews, both TV and radio, as well as recorded pieces.

I managed communications for three regional teams at English Heritage, as well as wider national groups. My role involved issues management, media relations, stakeholder management and social media. I covered planning and development, listing, properties, publications, research, exhibitions and the Blue Plaques scheme.
