I am an entrepreneurial community-builder with demonstrated success in bringing people together to open new avenues for collaboration, connection and understanding. I spearheaded, organized and led the Rolling Requiem, the only global tribute on the first anniversary of the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. I bring well-honed public- and private-sector skills to Global Communities. As Director of the Office of Commercial Space Transportation reporting to U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elizabeth Dole, I built a cross-government coalition that persuaded President Reagan to create the opportunity for a private-sector satellite launching industry. This new industry rapidly put into orbit over 200 satellites that had been grounded after the Challenger accident. As a public relations consultant, I positioned a large human resources consulting firm as an HR Best Practices expert. My client sponsored competitions to determine the Best Companies to Work For in Washington and Oregon, which gave the firm access, for the first time, to 260 companies in its target market. I assisted Mesa Petroleum Chairman T. Boone Pickens, Jr., in his efforts to organize individual and institutional shareholders around the issues of shareholder rights, ushering in new initiatives for Board and management accountability. I also structured and auctioned the rights to his autobiography, resulting in a $1.5 million advance. Global Communities is a purposeful outgrowth of my life’s work. When people join together around a common cause for good, they build trust. They feel safer and more purposeful in their lives. My work is to create the framework for people to come together in global communities around specific calls to action. Together, we really can change the world.Specialties: Visionary LeadershipGlobal Community-BuildingStrategic EntrepreneurWritten and Spoken CommunicationsPublic PolicyPublic RelationsMarketing
