Activities Leader

Brighton, United Kingdom

LSI Brighton is a language school based in Hove, which teaches English to foreign students of secondary school age, as well as adults. It also organises host families for the students, as well as providing a range of activities. In my role as activities leader at LSI I was responsible for leading large groups of language students (aged 12-18) to activities around Brighton such as mini golf, beach volleyball, and bowling, as well as accompanying students on longer trips to locations such as Seven Sisters Cliffs and London. I also arranged pub-crawls for students over the age of 18. I completed the role successfully through maintaining a high energy and friendly personality, listening to, and taking action on, the concerns of teachers and students who I was guiding. A focus on safety was paramount through all of the guiding I completed, and I was required to plan these activities with safety in mind, and react to unexpected dangers or threats. The role taught me to think on my feet, leadership skills, and the importance of patience and working with others, particularly when different languages and cultures were involved.
