Undergraduate Engineering InternU.S. Naval Research Laboratory Jun 2021 - Aug 2021Washington, District Of Columbia, United StatesThis summer, I was given the honor of interning at the Naval Research Labs in Washington D.C. My primary project was on the study of interplanetary shocks that occurred from the year 1995 through 2009. I was responsible for analyzing data taken by the Ulysses and Wind space probes in order to explain the behavior of the interplanetary shocks that occurred during the time period. My secondary project included light HTML coding that sorted other interplanetary shock data that was recorded by other space probes.During the internship, I participated in many networking events as well as listened to esteemed Industry professionals from around the country speak on their research and give advice to aspiring scientists and engineers such as myself. This was a great experience that I am thankful to have been a part of. -
Stem TeacherSwaliga Foundation Aug 2017 - Aug 2021Washington, District Of Columbia, United StatesThe Swaliga Foundation is an organization that travels to schools, community centers, and summer camps to help promote Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) in underrepresented communities around Washington D.C. I began as a volunteer in high school and transitioned into a temporary teacher. I teach entry-level concepts to the kids such as the engineering design process, sound and light waves, and introductory circuitry. During COVID, Swaliga switched to hybrid courses, of which I was responsible for one class a week virtually this summer. -
Undergraduate ResearcherUniversity Of Michigan Feb 2021 - May 2021OnlineDuring the spring 2019 semester, I was given the opportunity to take on a research project in the University of Michigan's robotics department. My project focused on Robot manipulation, specifically developing more efficient ways of calculating a stable grasp in unstructured environments such as offices or kitchens where objects have many different shapes. For better understanding, a stable grasp indicates that once the object has been picked up by the robot, the object can resist all external forces applied to itself. My task was to create an algorithm in c++ that would take in five inputs, descriptors of the object in question, then determine whether or not the robot would be able to achieve a stable grasp on the object. In the short amount of time that I had to work on the project, I learned a lot about robot manipulation and the many elements that must be considered when writing code for robot instruction. -
Project AdministratorAuc Makeway Oct 2019 - Mar 2020Atlanta, GaI served as the Project Administrator for the Solar Decathlon project in the AUC MakeWay organization. The Solar Decathlon is a competition for college students as well as STEM professionals to design zero net energy single-family homes, attached housing, or large apartment buildings. My responsibilities include documenting all ideas, sketches, forms, and agendas from each meeting.

Math And Physics TutorFrederick Douglass Academic Success Center Aug 2018 - Mar 2020Atlanta, Georgia, United StatesThe Frederick Douglass Academic Success Center is located on Morehouse College's Campus. They provide tutoring services as well as host workshops. I was responsible for tutoring students in the following Physics courses; Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism (E&M), and Optics. I also tutored students in Calculus I, II, and III. Working as a tutor has helped me to solidify my knowledge of the subject while also helping others succeed academically.

Undergraduate ResearcherGeorgia Institute Of Technology May 2019 - Aug 2019Atlanta, GeorgiaI was responsible for creating different tests to record the methods of locomotion of the Scolopendra Polymorpha in different environments. I created an enclosed animal treadmill with a system of ultra slow-motion cameras to record patterns and oscillations in the bodies of the centipedes as they traveled at different speeds and different inclines. This data would later be used to help further develop a large-scale centipede robot that would have many applications such as military reconnaissance, or forems services when there are civilians trapped in hard to reach places underground. At the end of the program, I presented my research to Georgia Tech Faculty and Alumni. -
Undergraduate ResearcherMorehouse College Mar 2019 - May 2019Atlanta, GeorgiaDuring this project, I studied the behavior of the P-adic absolute value, specifically the ways that it can alter the value of numbers. Our team's task was to apply this theory to physical measurements ofdistance to see how we could alter the value to make it seem shorter than it actually was. The second half of this research was on the applications of Quantum, Fractional and Stochastic Calculus and its applications in distance calculations. -
Undergraduate ResearcherMorehouse College Feb 2019 - Apr 2019Atlanta, Georgia• Explored the capabilities of the P-addict absolute value by computing different numbers and analyzing how the P-addict absolute value altered the value of a number.• Explored how our perception of distance can be altered by the P-addict absolute value, and how this concept can be applied to real life.• Presented Research at the Alumni Mathematics National Conference. -
Undergraduate ResearcherMorehouse College May 2018 - Jul 2018Chesapeake Beach, Maryland• Explored the different methods of taking data in research and studied each role on a research team in order to become familiar with the scientific research process.• Completed an online Scientific Literacy course and engaged in weekly webinars on the theory of research.
