I have been working at Cedar Risk, formerly RVIS, since 1997 and am in love with the insurance industry. I constantly strive to further my education, and have realized the old adage is true: the more I learn, the more I realize just how much I don't know. And now that I'm President, it's a whole new game to learn!For several years I focused specifically on building proper a niche commercial insurance for the alcoholic beverage industry under our CedarBrew program- Craft Breweries, Craft Distilleries, and Cideries of all sizes, from the one-person start up to multi-state corporations. I even published a book, "Crafting Insurance for Breweries." Our company specializes in catering to the needs of each company separately vs. the one sized fits all, cookie cutter approach. Every client is unique and therefore needs to be treated accordingly. Specifically with the breweries and distilleries, there needs to be a lot of knowledge of the actual inner workings of your industry in order to really understand where your exposures lie. CedarBrew took the time to learn the ins and outs of the beverage making process in order to best advise my clients. Once that was nailed, we worked with certain insurance companies to help create niche insurance programs that actually fulfilled the owners needs, filled in the coverage gaps, took our exclusions so that at the end of the day product is the best on the insurance market. I am now doing the same for several other specialty markets!I currently have several specialty designations for industry professionals. I finished the Beer Steward level for the Master Brewer's Association of the Americas, I completed the Construction Risk and Insurance Specialty (CRIS) for individuals who sell insurance to the construction industry, and also am a Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) and a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC).
