My co-authored book Mr. Semolina-Semolinus: A Greek Folktale, illustrated by Giselle Potter, was an ALA-ALSC Notable Book, a Marion Vannett Ridgway Award winner, and a New York Public Library Best Book for Children. Another collaboration, The Orphan: A Cinderella Story from Greece, illustrated by Giselle Potter, was a Bank Street College of Education Best Book of 2012. I also collaborated on the anthology, Folktales from Greece: A Treasury of Delights. Loukas and the Game of Chance, my most recent book, is a fantasy for kids 9 & up is about loss, struggle, and a journey to seek redemption from Destiny herself. It was selected a 2019 Book Excellence Award Finalist.I have worked with children and teens in drama and storytelling, has been an actor, a director of children’s theater, a vehicle repossessor, and a janitor, and has taught in schools and universities in Turkey, Greece, Albania, and the United States. I divide my time between Ohio and Arizona.As I slip further into old(er) age, I run, spin, do pilates, stretch, lift wts, try to be mindful by the hour, maintain a healthy diet, learn compassion, be kind even in that long line at Walmart, be loving even on cloudy days, write honestly each day, love my grandkids from afar, smile more & frown less, don't forget to say, "Thank you," while putting my rash judgments aside.
