Magistrate for property tax appeals. Decide between the Property Appraiser's assessed value and what the Taxpayer believes it should be. Decision is based on evidence provided by both parties. Upon making my decision, then I would make a recomendation to the Board. In Miami-Dade, the Board has fully delegated its roll to the Magistrates due to the extremely high amount of appeal in the County so the Magistrate's decision is typically final.

I was both a Value Magistrate and an Attorney Magistrate in Broward County. The value Magistrate's duties entail listing to both the Property Appraiser's representative's and to the tax payer's sworn testimonies and review the evidence presented in recommending a value to the Board. The Attorney Magistrate listens to appeals regarding tax exemptions and deciding whether the Property Appraiser is correct or the Tax payer is, then makes a recommendation to the Board.
