Acting Staff Sergeant, Tactical Unit
CurrentLead total unit activities, including daily operations aligned with OPS policies and effectively managing a budget of approx. $400,000.00. Engage with Staffing Officers to ensure appropriate coverage and allocation of resources to meet internal mandates in response to significant staff shortages and overtime requirements - conducting strategic planning for future staffing requirements. Participate in operational, staffing, and budget planning meetings, ensuring unit activities adhere to all OPS directives.Effectively delegate roles to members to ensure unit functionality and effectiveness, supporting individual development and succession planning to support unit objectives. Review and evaluate all expenditures with respect and adherence to the current budget freeze, determining which items are "mission critical" and providing requests to Supervisors for approval. Provide approvals for Tactical Operational Plans and serve as the Tactical Commander for all major events and critical incidents. Chair Tactical NCO meetings to address current issues and determine unit strategies, goals, and objectives.Monitor and assess the performance of members on the Tactical and Canine units as required, implementing performance improvement plans and monitoring follow-through to success.
