Marc is a Commercial and Litigation Lawyer, Arbitrator, Mediator and Supervisory Board Member (profit and non profit) with expertise in most of the legal issues relating to International Trade, Economic Sanctions and Export Control, Insurance, Transport (Sea, Air & Road), Maritime and Off Shore respectively Port Operations. Marc has been involved in several leading law cases, has been a lecturer at the Dutch Grotius Academy on Transport Law for several years and is regularly appointed as an Arbitrator and Mediator in his area of expertise. Marc is amongst others listed as Maritime & Logistics Arbitrator and Mediator with UNUM [https://unum.world/arbitration/available-arbitrators/]. Marc has also published numerous articles, several of them in English language legal periodicals and is a frequently asked speaker on seminars. Favorable listings in Chambers and the Legal 500 fell to him.Marc is qualified as an Attorney at Law (Advocate) in the Netherlands and joined the Amsterdam based Law Firm SchutGrosheide (now part of DLA Piper) in 1986. After having worked for 15 years in this Firm's Amsterdam office, Marc moved to Rotterdam to start and head DLA Piper's office in this city. As of 1 June 2007 the Rotterdam DLA Piper office took a new course under the name Padberg Spanjaart. Padberg Spanjaart meanwhile in 2010 merged with full service law firm Kneppelhout Korthals (now just 'Kneppelhout'), also based in Rotterdam.
