Student Housing And Activities Officer
First point of contact for commencing international students at NMIT, responsible for airport pick up, setting up bank accounts accommodation placement (local and international), and delivery of orientation program. Coordination of an activities program to assist with the integration of international students in their new environment. I also assisted international students with setting up Australian bank accounts, catching public transport and provided guidelines for acceptable and expected behavior both at NMIT and in Australia. This position developed my ability to communicate effectively with students with minimal English comprehension, and gave me a solid understanding of some of the issues faced by international students, and the cultural differences of students from different backgrounds. KEY ACHIEVEMENTS:- Treasurer TAFE Sport and Recreation Victoria (2002)- Vice President of TAFE Sport and Recreation Victoria (2001)- Achieved the highest numbers of student participation in activities at NMIT on record
