I was brought into Nine Group, one of the larger B2B communications providers in the UK to improve the way that the product marketing team operated. Nine had gone through an intense period of acquisition, so working with the customers to consolidate and streamline the products, messaging and commercial aspects of the company was my key challenge.

I joined the board of Verridian, the largest financial services recruitment agency in the UK, in 2008, a time when ‘financial services’ was melting globally. Their ambition was to grow their technology training offering and client base.

One of my favourite memories of Verridian came about because the client was careful with their budget. Cost control should always be front of mind, especially when you’re engaged in a multimillion pound series of integrated media events. They wanted the full experience for their 1000 delegates, but were concerned about the cost of a ‘celebrity host’. I.
