Library Board Trustees are dedicated to upholding the ideals of a free, democratic society by promoting intellectual freedom and providing free, equitable access to knowledge and ideas. The Trustees are instrumental in ensuring that the leadership, policies, relationships, financial resources and infrastructure are in place to support the success of the West Vancouver Memorial Library (probably the best Library in the world, albeit not sponsored by Carlsberg).WVML is a public library under The BC Libraries Act. The Board has overall fiscal responsibility for the Library. Other primary responsibilities include determining strategic priorities, developing policies and hiring the Director of Library Services.I participated in the 2015 5 Year Strategic Review, served as Chair of the Finance Committee and served on the Long Term Infrastructure Strategy Committee.From 2015-2017, I served as a member of the Board of the West Vancouver Memorial Library Foundation and serve as a member of its Finance Committee. The Foundation is an incorporated, not-for-profit society governed by the BC Societies Act , which raises funds and administers endowments, donations and bequests for the Library. The Foundation annually grants funds to the Library which provide enhancements that make it a special place offering exceptional service for patrons, local citizens and visitors.
