My responsibilities included:• Assisting with the exhibition rotation of ‘Edo in Colour’, gaining experience in art handling, preventative conservation, location and movement control of museum collections, and exhibition curation.• Addressing the documentation backlog, by updating object records and transferring information from Professor Arthur Arberry’s 1950s Catalogue of Arabic Manuscripts to the museum collections management system.• Assisting the curator of Islamic Collections and the Assistant Librarian with archival research, to establish the provenance of manuscripts from the collection that had been requested for loan internationally.I also met with the Education department and learnt about coordinating volunteer programmes, developing an education policy and programmes in response to the collection, building collaborations, and developing access programmes such as Azure dementia friendly tours.
