I am a VERY extroverted Orange/Green personality! I have an abundance of enthusiasm for teaching science to anyone who would like to learn what I can share. I can dabble in many areas and be an expert in none, but there is always Google or You Tube to finish explaining what I haven't stored in my brain yet. I want students to learn to pursue knowledge for themselves, for the sake of knowing and be able to access the information they need. My instructional style includes being open to change. Science is happening all around us. When interesting items occur in outer space, on earth or history is being made, then I believe in stopping to have teachable moments. I provide a corner of science manipulatives that students are free to investigate. Students tell substitutes: “this is the fun class”. I am a facilitator of learning by providing knowledge in multiple ways to meet the needs of all types of learners. I assess what is absorbed by application rather than spit back what was memorized. Science knowledge builds upon experiences and utilizes English and math skills to be successful in a laboratory environment.
