I am a psychology student who wants to create economic and healthcare opportunities for those in need. I suppose I'm an observer, someone who is curious, careful, and creative. Even though I grew up in Miami, I spent a lot of time in Venezuela. In everyday life, I tend to look around and ask questions about what I see. When I initially arrived in America, I was surprised by the diversity of customer service workers. As part of my community service requirement, I was able to assist at Miami Dade College. The women and children I met at a homeless shelter had been through a lot, including domestic violence and substance abuse. I wanted to be a part of that kind of care after seeing how much support they could give. With time, I became more interested in personality disorders including PTSD, schizophrenia, and other comparable conditions. It came up while I was reading academic journal articles. I conducted a lot of research to find the ideal agency and employment path for me. Currently, I want to work in the public sector, possibly as a VA social worker.I have learned on how to exercise patience especially in with children. At one point, in 2016, I was recommended to parents of an autistic child, they were informed that I could help them care for their son during my sophomore year of college. Finally, they led me to my current work, which I had it for three years; this was my dream job. I started off in customer service. I had to work hard to get into special ED. It's been exciting to watch them learn and communicate more each day, and I'm grateful to be a part of such a great group of individuals.
