A long-time believer in the power of people, the magic of the arts, and the sacredness of life, Mark has worked to build a better world for decades. For the past 30+ years, he has worked in DC's inner-city first through Emmaus Services for the Aging and, now, We Are Family DC, which he helped to co-found in 2004. He also co-founded the celebrated punk activist collective Positive Force DC in 1985. Mark is the co-author of Dance of Days: Two Decades of Punk in the Nation's Capital and We Are The Clash: Reagan, Thatcher and the Last Stand of a Band That Mattered and the author of All The Power: Revolution Without Illusion and has contributed to many other books as well as several films. Beyond being a punk activist and historian, he is skilled in Nonprofit Organizations, Grassroots Organizing, Government, Event Management, and Media Relations. Strong media and communication professional with a MA focused in International Relations/Latin American Studies from The Johns Hopkins University - Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). Mark was born and raised a farm and ranch in Sheridan County, MT, fifteen miles from the nearest town or paved road on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation.
