Overview: Child Welfare Services/Case Management System was California's response to federal requirements that all county child welfare databases be consolidated and centrally managed at the state level. Thus our network topology included connections to all county offices, a state data center, IBM data centers; and Colorado, and on-site connection to State LAN separated by a DMZ. I assumed application & deskside support and IT asset tracking responsibilities for all IBM personnel and application support for State personnel to begin. Within a year I had assumed management of Domain Controllers, data servers, Active Directory and all user and workstation accounts on the IBM side and user account management of state personnel.
