I am a full stack developer, primarily focused on JavaScript and TypeScript, and work for Salsita, a digital product agency providing design-driven web and mobile application development. I have a long-term role as tech lead of one of our largest projects, developing a complex finance and analytics dashboard for the management of a major international e-commerce platform.As well as technical experience of modern frameworks and libraries, I also bring to the table a particular focus on understanding user requirements and prioritising user needs throughout the development process. I enjoy switching from the big picture to fine details throughout design, development, testing and deployment.My career has had several twists and turns. I started out by studying chemical engineering, inspired by wanting to understand, design and control the complex systems that chemical plants represent. My academic journey continued with research into polymer processing, then I decided that I was more interested in systems and processes in general than narrowly focused research and wanted to tackle a wider variety of problems. I then became a technical consultant, specialising in requirements, procurement support and options assessment for IT-enabled business change, giving me experience of the broader business environment within which software development operates. But as time went on, I decided that I was missing out on what was often the most interesting part, actually building a solution, so I retrained and am now enjoying the challenges of working as a developer.In addition to my strong technical and analytical abilities I can manage my time effectively across multiple projects, I am a fast learner, always interested in new ideas, and I understand the importance of effective teamwork to delivering results. I have had many team leadership, reviewing and mentoring roles, and communicate effectively both in writing and in person. Most of all, I enjoy problem solving and new challenges.
