*Role summary from Job Description*This post is responsible for being an effective leader and engaging with health and social care organisations across the region and identifying and acting on opportunities to improve and grow the use of existing and new data for the purpose of research. The leader will promote the importance of research and how it can be utilised in practice. This post will foster and engender a whole systems approach across health and social care which supports integration of data and working digitally, to the benefit of research as well as the public. The postholder will have a good understanding of local government, health and social care and previous experience of conducting research initiatives. They will be expected to work collaboratively with key regional partners to identify and develop research opportunities in the area of adult social care and to show considerable initiative in identifying solutions to business problems and in championing innovation and change across the region. Acting as technical specialist on a number of projects, but also identifying and delivering regional projects based on audits, service evaluations and gap analyses with the aim to improve the capacity and capability of health and social care data and digital ways of working to be utilised to develop and deliver research. The postholder will be required to develop a strong understanding of regional health and care digital and data initiatives and ensure that research activity is supportive of and builds on existing work and good practice.

Management of the ROST team responsible for the development and quality assurance of Health informatics tools for patient identification for research in Primary Care. This includes development of searches and protocols within Clinical systems for this purpose as well as the management of development requests as they are received from research teams. I am also part of the National ITSolutions team contributing to the development of a national approach to the development of Health Informatics, ensuring a streamlined approach, avoiding duplication of activity from region to region. The scope of this role is quite wide dealing with issues ranging from the allocation of work to team members, management of the overall team workload, ensuring development requests are managed to target with no avoidable delay to study recruitment and also advising study teams regarding their choice of health Informatic tool and recruitment process to best meet their study requirements. ROST has also been involved in area's outside of Primary Care including the completion of a project for the NIHR on the use of routinely collected data in Social Care with a view of gauging the potential of research delivery in the future.

This role required communication with many stakeholders in research from GP's and Practice Managers through to Clinical Trial Units and research delivery governance boards to ensure research studies were delivered smoothly within the approvalsgranted for delivery to take place. Project management skills were required to ensure allocated studies were approved and delivered to time and target with all approvals and assessments tasks completed without delay to recruitment starting wherever possible. Various design projects using Microsoft Excel with exported data from the main college database, to monitor course performance and to plan future curriculum. A key role within the Self-Assessment process of the college, providing reports detailing all performance measures, plus analysis of data to identify reasons for poor performance. Line-management of up to 6 members of staff, including training on the use of the central Database system. Understanding complex Funding/Data legislation and Guidance produced by mCentral Government, to be able to offer advice and guidance to colleagues.
