Responsible for leading and developing a multidisciplinary team delivering major transmission voltage capital investment and customer connection projects within the SP Transmission licence area.Ensuring high quality project delivery within a safety focussed operational environment. Strong advocate of customer service, and promoting internal / external stakeholder engagement. Delivery of RIIO T2 targets with strict adherence to governance, regulatory and licence obligations whilst minimising environmental impacts and maximising sustainability of project delivery.Proud to be involved in building key transmission assets supporting the UK’s transition to a net zero carbon economy.

Delivery of year on year major projects outputs for complex projects up to 33kV including numerous grid sites. Ran the connections team for the whole District from LV to 33kV including successful delivery of several windfarms. Led all civil maintenance aspects spanning the whole District. Over earlier years was responsible for all fault management activities within the Edinburgh & Lothians geography, and all plant maintenance activities for the District up to 33kV. Undertook District Duty Manager standby covering SPD’s licence area and was heavily involved in local customer and stakeholder management. Highly developed SAP system skills.

Led all maintenance activities for the Zone up to 33kV including all civil maintenance aspects and all fault management activities. Responsible for industrial workforce numbering 70 staff, and corresponding Team Leader / Engineering office staff structure. Led all depot management activities across the three sites within the District, and championed local stakeholder management with the various councils and local bodies.

Managed a 20 strong team responsible for the cable laying contract within SPD’s licence area. Ran the SPD NSWRA Streetworks team including council stakeholder management. Placed multi-year cable laying and jointing contracts for SPD and SPM areas – the largest framework contract in SPD and SPM’s portfolio. Ran the Data Management team of 30 staff plus developed innovative outsourcing sub contract with QC Data for outsourcing of Data Management activity.

Responsible for investment policy and renewal programme for ScottishPower’s regulated switchgear and transformer assets ensuring the safety and performance of this asset continues at acceptable levels. The role involves the control of some £20m+ annual investment across the SP Manweb, SP Distribution, SP Transmission licences. Ensuring the business delivered this investment in an acceptable manner and to suitable standards with no direct reporting structure to myself calls for highly developed influencing skills at all levels within the company.Developed the non-load element of the business-critical Distribution Price Review Settlement (DPCR5) – an investment bid summating to over £1billion. Positioned the submission internally within the business to achieve Exec sign-on and involved in the successful negotiation round with the Regulator. Building on this achievement, then led the formulation of SP Transmission investment non load proposals for the next Regulatory negotiations.

Held responsibility for the Grid System Operations and the Customer Connections interface. In these interfaces, developed Service Level Agreements, created a control framework for the financial and volumetric aspects of the interface and produced new Safety policies, procedures and methods of working. Also responsible for generating the investment scenarios that supported the company’s Price Review annual submission.Developed the company’s competition in connections document suit to support the opening of the LV contestable market.
