I am committed to my role as Accounts Office Manager at Horner Downey & Co Chartered Accountants & Registered Auditors whilst retaining a specific interest in providing the lead in Vat Accounting within the practice. I have proactively taken on board and developed the Vat Reporting system for initially in excess of 600 clients. My objectives have been to develop the existing system to achieve added value. Effective control and roll out of the HMRC MTD Vat requirements have recently been a significant priority and this had been eased by the added value already achieved in developing the Vat reporting and control structure. Co-operation and continuing feedback shared with stakeholders and clients within this area leads me to believe the approach used has been effective, achieving synergies across the Horner Downey business model and for our end users. I strongly believe that the development of clear, effective systems and relationships provide both opportunity for flexible, effective delegation within the business structure and fertile conditions for an first class collaborative culture.

Primarily bespoke general building work for private clients. Interior and exterior design and build. Working with clients to provide vision and solutions in their construction requirements. My role predominantly involves the commercial management and financial control of the business.I also find time to participate in the financial function of a registered charity in Chester on a periodic basis.

Dolphin Developments, primarily involved in the private housing sector. We have a portfolio of jobs from Home Extensions and Conservatories to Landscaping and Surface Finishing. We provide a fully managed service if required.I am concerned with the Financial and Administrative Control of the Business and the Project Management of Tenders and Costings. Extensive contacts within the industry to enable us to respond to a variety of project sizes and requirements.

I joined the company on a Temp Assignment in 1998 reporting to Financial Controller Rein Meijer. I left as Assistant Accountant to Steve Parker the Financial Controller in 2006 to start my own business venture in the construction industry. I was initially involved in both Purchase Ledger work and Credit Control. I progressed to a permanent position where the scope responsibility became wider.My final position at Dynea involved a wide variety of responsibilities including close support of Steve Parker in a substantial element of Monthly Management Accounts Preparation, including; Journals, Variance Analysis, General Ledger and Balance Sheet Reconciliations, Assisting in the Development of Spreadsheet Modelling, Cost Centre Data and Analysis, Stock Valuation and Adjustment, Elements of Group Reporting, VAT and Intrastat Returns, Administration of AS400 System and Involvement in System Migration and Roll Out.
