I am a molecular virologist (molecular biologist). With over 15 years’ experience in the field of molecular virology, and have a strong interest in the applied fields of research as opposed to basic research, and am, therefore, currently actively looking for career opportunities outside the university system. I have extensive experience working with DNA clones of various viral genes/genomes.Although I earned my PhD working on Influenza virus (an RNA virus), I have extensive experience producing DNA clones of viral genes (RT-PCR, etc. & subcloning of the genes as DNA clones for sequence analysis or enzymatic manipulation. Also, familiar(experienced) in working in a highly regulated high biosafety laboratory (BSL-3), that included strict following of established SOPs, I even have experience writing these SOPs.BSL-3 work also required strict documentation/recording of sample storage.Familiar with most immunology-based assays for determining anti-viral/vaccination efficacy in experimentally challenged animals.Including examination of blood serum for antibody production.ELISA, Western blotting, Immunohistochemical stainingAs well as various methods for detection of infectious virus in various tissues, etc.,Plaque assaysTCID50sExtensive experience growing virus stocks in cell culture, and properly storing same. One of the studies I was involved in during my PhD in DR. Yoshi Kawaoka’s lab was the production of defined Influenza viruses from cloned DNAs (reverse genetics of influenza
