-Over 6 years of operating at Marathon Petroleum’s Detroit Refinery.-Units I operate include: -Delayed Coking Unit (42,570bbl/day throughput) -Gas Recovery Unit -Sulfur Recovery Unit -Amine Regeneration Unit -Sour Water Stripping Unit -Tail Gas Recovery Unit-Marathon is the largest US petroleum refiner and a Fortune 500 company with “Best in Industry” standards for safety and operations.-Detroit Refinery has maintained OSHA VPP status for many years.-Operate using procedures following Detroit Refinery’s philosophy of “Every procedure, every step, every time.”-Use critical thinking and problem solving skills in situations where there might not be a procedure.-Working as both a board operator and field operator provides me with a greater understanding of the workings of the process and process equipment.-Strong ability to work as part of a team/shift and lead by setting a good example.-Stepped up during the fall 2018 “Turn-around” to lead a small team to help install and commission a new Flare Gas Recovery Compressor skid.-Coordinate with company maintenance and contractors working in the process units, and perform joint jobsite visits to ensure safe completion of work.-Committed to promoting a strong safety culture and safe work practices through Process Safety Management, Marathon Detroit Refinery’s Drive Safety initiative, and start of shift safety meetings.-Strong emphasis on environmental stewardship.-Respond to emergency situations.
