After a short layoff (just enough time to finish my AAS at Butte College) and retirements within the Cities maintenance staff I received an offer to return to my position in the Parks Department.

Paradise Ca

I maintained the grounds, facilities natural resources and greenways of Bidwell Park and the City of Chico. I worked with volunteers and concerned citizens to mitigate hazards and cleared vegetation for critical ‘sight lines’ for the Park Rangers and Police Department. I removed homeless camps and helped with finding children who had wandered away from adults. I enjoyed maintaining and repairing the playground equipment in Caper Acres and working out doors for the City of Chico.

I maintained the health and appearance of the City of Chico’s trees working as an Arborist. I effectively communicated and educated the public on tree health and City policy. I often worked out of class assuming the lead in various Park and Street Tree operations. I have participated in community and City Arbor Day celebrations and supervised various operational assignments including hazardous tree removals, emergency responses, formative pruning, and tree planting.

Supervision and training of new employees, problem solving, redesign and assemble products to match code and design. I mastered complex blueprint reading, as well as layout and fit up of various structural and architectural aspects; including staircases, railings, architectural details, erection and installation of all phases of commercial structural and ornamental steel.
