  • Steuben County
    Correctional Officer
    Steuben County Jun 2003 - Jun 2004
    Bath, New York
Worked on all three different shifts guarding each unit of the Jail and its inmates. A shift would consist of keeping a head count, tracking where each and every inmate was and conducting a physical tour of that unit every fifteen minutes which was recorded by computer and book records. Try to keep a professional relationship with the residents of that unit, communicate with the inmates if they have needs such as medication, scheduled visitations, court and more. Maintain order of the unit and communicate with the control center and other officers if help was needed, giving count of the unit when shifts changed. It was always a must to keep your uniform nice and clean, have your self and equipment in order, act with care, and be alert at all times.

Make sure all exits and entrances were secure. Maintain the lost and found. Respond to alarms. Answer radio calls from all departments when help was needed (PBX, the restaurant, housekeeping, engineering, Lifeguard, Front Desk, the Kitchen, bellmen and more). Parking guests was always a challange when space wasn't available, but we would try to accomodate as best as we could. Help bellmen take flight crews and guests to the airport when short staffed. Escort staff to the safe room when desposits were made. Help in the kitchen when Weddings Receptions were going on. Help guests/staff when keys weren't working. • Stony Brook State Park
    Maintenance Crew And Park Ranger
Stony Brook State Park Jun 1994 - Aug 1999
    Dansville, New York
We would clean the park grounds, bathrooms, pavilions, grills and more. The crew would trim, mow, cut down trees, prune... Clear rock slides in the gorge and keep an open trail for the public. Seasonally open and close the man made pools, even opening them up to drain and clean the bottom occasionally. Sometimes I would find myself working the two main entrances/offices to sell tickets to park guests. When I was the Park Ranger my job was to open and operate the Campground office to sell day passes to the park, check in/check out campers, make reservations for future campers, walk the campground to make sure it was clean, campers were in order and following rules, answer questions and hike the trails daily.
