Houston Area, Texas

Set up new Affiliate for the Total Group, merging 4 existing product lines into one entity responsible for the manufacture and sale of chemicals and lubricants to industrial users and the general public. Reorganised the activity, recruited new management team and led a transformation of company culture. Staff satisfaction index increased 50% in 2 years.Led the local strategic decision-making process to obtain shareholder approval for the construction of a $100m Solvents Manufacturing Plant. Directed and supported the Project Team that successfully completed the build in 2 years with a 100% safety record. Directly managed the business relationship with main EPC contractor and principal suppliers, including direct negotiation of contract modifications and the resolution of contractual disputes including the use of mediation and litigation where necessary. Managed project relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Grew the Lubricants business by 5% per year, improved brand awareness 4%. Reviewed product portfolio, as well as the associated production and supply chain activity (9 facilities countrywide) to improve market offering, quality and customer service whilst simultaneously reducing access costs and inventories. Implemented new CRM program and new social marketing/sales initiatives.The Affiliate also operated Aviation and Marine Fuels business lines. 150 Employees. Turnover $1.5bn.

Houston, Texas Area

Joined the Refining and Petrochemicals Division in Houston, embedded within the Refinery Supply, Trading & Optimisation Department. Used my market knowledge and customer focus to develop up a "Specialities business" based around the company's refining assets by identifying product streams and markets that offered better returns if sold directly to customers and searching for external growth opportunities. Managed a strategic transformation to directly sell the refinery's Petcoke and Sulphur production that would triple following an expansion in 2011. Negotiated throughput rights and the construction and operation of two multi-million Export Terminals by third parties in order to create the required infrastructure for business operations and mitigation of operational risk.Consolidated then grew the Aviation and Asphalt business lines. Started Solvents and Marine Fuels businesses. Undertook an M&A exercise to enter the Racing and Reference Fuels markets.Improved the overall profit by $15m over the period.These business development activities led to the creation of an independent Downstream Affiliate in 2012, realising the vision that the company could be a relevant player in direct consumer markets in the USA.

Took the lead on major contract negotiations with Key Accounts, especially in Europe and Asia.Co-founder of the IATA Registered Supplier Programme. Key participant in the creation of industry Standard Contracts to facilitate international business.
