Health And Safety Manager
CurrentProvides advice and assistance on complicated problems or issues regarding project or program operations that can be resolved through the application of routinely accepted practices. Advises supervisors and safety representatives of appropriate safety and occupational health measures to control or eliminate hazardous operating processes or environmental conditions. Advises senior level management officials within the assigned area on the status of the safety and occupational health programs. Conducts periodic on-site occupational health surveys and inspections of operations and facilities to ensure applicable health and safety requirements are met. Prepares reports on inspections and follows up to ensure that corrective action is taken. Assists accident and mishap task teams, fact-finding boards, investigation committees, and special working groups to ensure that safety and health considerations are incorporated in programs and activities. Inspects work sites with increased risk of accident or illness to assure incorporation of adequate fire safety features and compliance with applicable codes. Independently monitors and evaluates local safety program effectiveness. Responds to emergencies, coordinates stabilization of emergency site, and effects the smooth transition of the emergency condition to local municipal fire and emergency service organizations.
