During my 22-year military career, I served in a variety of special operations staff and leadership positions across many disciplines: administration, training, communications, plans, intelligence, operations, and command. I've delivered hundreds of MCS programs throughout Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United States. I helped develop and deliver the Point of the Spear (L-380) course, All Hazard Incident Leadership (L-381) course and the Intent into Action: Advanced Leadership for the Command & General Staff (L-481) program.Extremely rewarding is representing MCS as a member of a unique coalition of private sector, utilities, non-profits as well as federal, tribal, state and local governments in creating the strategic leader L-580 program called Leading in Crisis for the International Association of Fire Chiefs. I have gotten a lot of feedback from graduates how what they learned has helped them navigate their organizations through the COVID-19 Pandemic.I really believe in the movement of emergency services organizations to adopt principles-based leadership and a Mission-Driven Culture. I'm lucky to be involved in several projects designed to evolve the doctrine of emergency management. I work with agencies, incident management teams and first responders on implementing intent-based planning and risk decisions as a means to reduce operational risk and increase mission success.
