The GRP will include the collective groundwater reduction goals of the LVGUs as… Show more The San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA) has developed and is implementing a Joint Groundwater Reduction Plan (“GRP”) on behalf of all Large Volume Groundwater Users (“LVGUs”) in Montgomery County, Texas who have executed the Contract for Groundwater Reduction Planning, Alternative Water Supply, and Related Goods and Services (“ GRP Contract “) with the SJRA. These LVGUs are considered Participants (“Participants”). The GRP will include the collective groundwater reduction goals of the LVGUs as established by the Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District (“LSGCD”) in its District Regulatory Plan Phase IIB (“DRP”). A specific strategy will include a surface water supply, treatment, storage, conveyance and delivery system that will provide treated surface water to selected LVGUs for use in conjunction with groundwater to result in an overall reduction of groundwater use. Additional strategies may include effluent reuse, water conservation, drought management, and other methods to reduce groundwater use. The SJRA has established a separate GRP Division to implement the Groundwater Reduction Plan including the planning, permitting, design, property acquisition, financing, construction, operations and maintenance of the raw water intake, raw water pump station, surface water treatment plant, finished water storage, finished water pump station, transmission lines and ancillary facilities.The role of the GRP Division Manager is to lead, plan, coordinate, organize, direct and manage activities of GRP Division to achieve the organization’s goals and objectives.
