In addition to this responsibility, I’m also the Senior Manager of Alliances and Licensing for IBM Research. I have worldwide responsibility to; (1) Generate Income through the licensing of IBM Research’s Intellectual Property assets, and(2) Establish Joint Development partnerships based on newly emerging technologies. I’ve led the growth of IP Income for IBM Research from approx $16M/yr to $200M/yr over a 5 year period. Directly responsible for establishing major new initiatives between IBM and key industry leaders, some examples of these initiatives are in the areas of: Quantum Computing, new non-volatile memory technologies (MRAM and PCM), Transceivers supporting the new 5G cell phone standard, New materials for Drug Delivery, Adoption of Optical Communications technologies (both VSCEL and Si Photonics based), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and many more. During my tenure, I’ve personally been responsible for signing relationships totaling $1.4B dollars, in 2020 alone I established relationships exceeding $220M.My success stems from the ability to quickly understand new and advanced technologies, build and maintain executive relationships with key decision makers, understand the nuances of my customer’s businesses, structure, and drive deals to closure. -
Product ManagerIbm Jan 2002 - Jan 2006Ibm - Hawthorne Ny & Poughkeepsie, Ny• Program Director / Founder of IBM’s High Performance Computing Cloud offering. I conceived, developed, and launched this significant new offering for IBM. At the time that I left this project there were five data centers across the world in operation with over 11,000 dedicated CPUs. Some notable achievements were: Closure of a three year $42.6 million contract with a major financial institution; development of alternate sales channels through Independent Software Vendors (ISVs); and break-even financial performance by the end of first full year of operation; on target for 26% gross profit margin.• Product Manager for IBM’s e-Commerce offerings. I was responsible for defining and developing the e-Marketplace and B2B product offerings for IBM’s Websphere Commerce Suite (WCS). I manage a team of 65 people in the US, China, and India that were responsible for developing these products jointly with the Software Group in Toronto. Some notable successes were development of the WCS Marketplace Edition in only nine months with a budget of $1.5 million; within just three months, this product generated $12 million in revenue, far exceeding all revenue and profitability targets.

Product ManagerIbm Jan 2001 - Jan 2004Ibm - Poughkeepsie• Product Manager of IBM’s CAD solution for the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industry, a UNIX based 3D graphic modeling application with integrated engineering analysis (1.6 million lines of code). I had World Wide responsibility for the success of this effort. My team consisted of 33 people (13 in IBM and 20 subcontractors) that were responsible for planning, development, marketing, services, and end user support. Several thousand copies were sold to over 600 businesses worldwide. We enjoyed the highest Customer Satisfaction rating of any product in IBM. Some notable successes were: • Product used to design and mange the Winter Olympic site in Lillehammer, Norway. Featured in media campaigns (Newsweek, TV, brochures) as a key factor for successful management of the games. • Chosen by the Australian government as the central tool in a massive modernization and privatization of the government run construction industry.• Numerous projects designed using IBM’s solution in almost every major city of the world (e.g. Getty Museum- LA, Rowes Wharf - Boston, Canary Wharf - London)

Managed the Marketing, Sales and Solutions group for software used in the design of IBM’s newest computer chips. Responsible for revenue, customer satisfaction and project management of over 100 specific software and services deliverables. Created a process to identify and track all commitments for our 350 person organization, this process led to an increase in delivery integrity from 30% to over 97% in just one year. Driven by the improved relationship with our customers, overall customer satisfaction grew by 16%, and revenue grew from $37M to $47M. Results far exceeded all goals!• Corporate Staff: Responsible for ensuring the Y2K readiness of IBM’s hardware, software and μ-code development/maintenance environments. This included management responsibility for repairing, sunsetting/replacing, testing, and establishing contingency plans for over 900 application instances.
