About Mark Thomas, Phd
Business school executive (Associate Dean) with degrees from three countries (including Harvard, EM Lyon and Lancaster University). I have extensive knowledge of business school leadership and management, national and international accreditation processes and international development. I have worked in higher education for the two decades as course director, director of business school programs and director of international affairs & professor. I have managed programme portfolios with more 3000 students and revenues of €25 million. I have worked extensively on a variety of international projects in some 30 different countries and signed more than 100 international partnerships. Notable agreements include the universities of Cambridge, Columbia, Duke and McGill. I have also created and managed off-site campuses in China, the USA, the UK and Canada as well as establishing major alliance networks for international recruitment in higher education. I have more than 15 years’ experience of working for national and international higher education accreditation organisations (AACSB, EFMD, CEFDG etc.). I currently serve on the EFMD Programme Accreditation Board and have been accreditation peer review member and chair for more than 10 years. I am accreditation mentor for both EFMD and AACSB and former Chair of the Associate Deans Affinity Group at AACSB. I have audited and assisted more than 30 business schools across the world in their accreditation processes. I have published more than 60 peer review articles, book chapters and other intellectual contributions including in journals such as Long Range Planning (ABS 3*) and the European Management Journal (ABS 1*). I have recently co-edited with Routledge "Mergers and Acquisitions. The Pharmaceutical & Biotechnology Industries". I currently have several articles under review in high level academic journals and two books due for publication within 18 months. My research has been presented at academic conferences such as the Academy of Management (AoM), EGOS, EURAM & EIBA. As a professor of Corporate Strategy, Strategic Management and Leadership, I have a record of consistent high performance in teaching, module supervision, course organization and pedagogical innovation.I work, teach and research in both English and French.
