Mark graduated from La Trobe University in 1979 with a science degree majoring in biochemistry and botany. Mark's particular interest as an under graduate was plant biochemistry and physiology. He commenced a post graduate degree in scientific and biomedical instrumentation at Swinburn (not completed) as he joined the Australian Patent Office in 1980 to commence his professional working life. Mark returned to Melbourne in 1987 to take up a position as a Patent Officer at the CSIRO Division of Manufacturing Technology. Mark then accepted a position with Carter Smith & Beadle and qualified as a Patent and Trade Mark Attorney in 1994 developing a strong interest in mechanical and engineering design work. In his leisure time Mark practises his craft of cabinet building under his trade mark THE TIMBER TAILOR and with his wife run a small farm in central Victoria breeding cattle.Specialties: Mechanical and general engineering with a particular interest in medical devices, agricultural engineering and woodworking.
