I am the President of Sciometrics LLC (formerly the Gannon Technologies Group) and the principal architect of Sciometrics’ Graph-based Pattern Matching methods that can be used to extract very hard-to-get content from documents, photographs and signal data. Applications using Graph-based Pattern Matching have been applied to handwriting recognition and in the biometrics arena for handwriting, signature, voice and fingerprints. I hold advanced degrees from the University of Michigan and Yale University.After graduation, I worked in an Architectural Practice in New York City becoming a partner within four years. While working as an architect, I discovered a method for quantifying data incorporating a graph-based data structure while developing methods for vectorizing hand drawn engineering drawings into Computer Aided Design objects. This technique offered a totally new way for recognizing handwritten words and symbols. I patented this idea and left the practice of Architecture to become an entrepreneur. In 2002, I brought my repertoire of technology to Gannon Technologies. Projects included developing a language independent handwriting biometric system (FLASH ID), a multi-language handwriting recognition system suitable for portable devices (Dynamic Ink), a totally new approach for matching latent fingerprints (AFISleuth and AFIS Afterburner) as well as methods for quantifying voice and facial features. I have authored numerous scientific papers and posters on data capture and biometrics and have spoken at several professional conferences including the annual meetings of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Academy of Forensic Science, and the International Academy of Forensic Science. I am the inventor of eight (8) U.S. patents and numerous foreign patents for inventions related to data capture and biometrics.
