Responsible for planning, implementing, overseeing, and maintaining Independence Township's Geographic Information System (GIS).Job Duties• Creating, managing, and maintaining Independence Township's spatial data, organizational structure, and database environment.• Developing web based applications to be used by crews in the field.• Creating paper and electronic map products as needed.• Ensuring that all map products and GIS related equipment utilized by the Fire Department are up to date and in a state of readiness.• Providing technical support to users regarding the operation of GIS equipment or applications.• Conducting training on GIS applications and equipment.• Supervising the collection of spatial data in the field.• Working in the Operations Division when necessary. This includes performing all the duties of an Operations Lieutenant or Engineer/Paramedic.

Job Duties• Served as initial incident commander for all fire, rescue, and medical emergencies that occurred within assigned district.• Ensured that assigned station, apparatus, and equipment were in a state of readiness.• Ensured assigned employees completed truck checks, station duties, training, reports, and other responsibilities.• Collaborated with the Operations Captain during training sessions.• Performed all job duties of an Engineer/Paramedic.

Job Duties• Responded to fire, rescue, and medical emergencies.• Performed fire suppression activities on structure, vehicle, and wildland fires.• Performed patient extraction from vehicles during motor vehicle accidents.• Engineered fire pump on incidents.• Provided patient care and transport to area hospitals.• Maintained Department apparatus and equipment in a state of readiness.• Conducted station tours and public education programs.• Performed station housekeeping duties.• Instructed and participated in Department training sessions.Additional Assigned Responsibilities• Maintained the Independence Fire Department's Geographic Information System (GIS). This included collecting, storing, editing, analyzing, and presenting geospatial data using a variety of GIS software applications.• Configured and maintained the Independence Fire Department's electronic patient care reporting system (Zoll RescueNet), collaborated closely with the EMS Coordinator.

The Communication Support Team (CST) is a unit of the Oakland County Incident Management Team responsible for providing communication, information technology (IT), and geographic information systems (GIS) support during large scale incidents and special events.
