Markisha DeVille is no stranger to the field of Human Services having spent 20 plus years doing community inclusion, integrating families, bridging the gap between families and their community resources. Prior to joining the the team at Newark Now this year, in 2000, right after graduating college in North Carolina, Markisha started her journey in New York, where she advocated for and served individual’s with disabilities. Then to New Jersey’s Healthy Babies/Healthy Mothers program to work with mothers and their newborns. In 2008, she became a team member of The Partnership for Family Success. Markisha served as a Training and Technical Assistance Coordinator providing information to the community and professionals who experience challenges in developing and securing appropriate programs and services for their families, children and youth, including those with special needs. Markisha is dedicated to preventing and eventually (one day) eliminating, child abuse in America.

The SAIF Program is designed to assist people with their transition from welfare to work. I am supervising a team of ten. Nine Intensive Case Managers and a Case Aid. As the Program Director, I am responsible for ensuring that effective, full, Intensive Case Management is provided to long term Welfare General Assistance recipients who has struggled to become self-sufficient due to serious obstacles and barriers. I provide ongoing direct supervision and training to my staff (and agency staff), infusing them with resources and strategies to successfully engaging and working with their clients to help them meet their goals. In addition, ensuring that timely, detailed assessments and ISP’s are conducted on each client, all clients are surveyed with appropriate internal and external referrals are made to assist with emergency food, shelter, medicals, etc. Maintaining relationships with referral sources and community partners such DOL (One Stop Career) and WFNJ (CWA) to receive necessary job training,volunteer training and education resources. Ensuring timely, accurate, weekly, monthly and statistical reports for both agency and funder. Ensured accurate and timely input into the agency’s database, assist the staff with the completion of monthly reports. Facilitate bi-monthly, client review meetings with County Welfare Agencies and Division of Family Development, case conferences and staff meetings with staff. Develop, coordinate and facilitated staff trainings. Coordinate monthly calendar with description of clients' weekly workshops (wellness, employment and empowerment). Also, ensuring all program components and files are consistent with agencies expectations and program’s funder’s requirements.
