Was an Owner and co-founder of Haven Heights, a North Carolina Mountain Land Development company. The company was founded in 2004 with a close friend and my mother, sister and brother in law. We purchased several tracts of land totaling over 400 acres outside of Marion, North Carolina. Five miles of DOT roads in order to offer over 180+ 1 - 10 acre lots for single family vacation and retirement homes with an emphasis on keeping the land in as close to the original ecological condition as possible.Over half of the lots were sold by 2008 but the property, like all other land developments, experienced a severe drop in sales due to the Great Recession. We are one of the few companies still in business due to the income from the mortgage portfolio and sales are finally starting again! All the property is affordable, tailored to meet the needs of middle and upper middle class people who want to enjoy living in the mountains of Western North Carolina. All the property is available with owner financing at reasonable rates. My mother, an experienced real estate developer and co-owner, died on March 8th, 2013 after a long struggle with breast and bone cancer. I became the sole owner of the project. Filed Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in attempt to save business. chapter 7 ended the endeavor in November 2016.
