One such instance occurred when I was with Oasis Data Systems. While on vacation, I received a frantic call from one of our executives telling me that the main server was down. I immediately returned to Dallas. When I arrived at the office, I found that a co-worker had tried to perform server upgrades. I called our remote site backup vendor, and over the weekend we completed the restore process via Internet. At the time, in the early 2000s, we only had a T-1 line, so restoring the 18 GB server took all night plus part of the following day. However, when everyone came to work that Monday, all equipment was up and running at 100%.Another instance happened with JMG Electrical Contractors. When I started working there, I was told the company would eventually be moving to a new, much larger space. When that time came, we shut everything down on Friday night. I loaded all servers and computer equipment onto a moving truck and delivered them to the new building. Over the weekend, I installed the servers and computers, along with an IP-based phone system, ran tests and had everything up and running at 100% when work started Monday morning.I’m very proud of my accomplishments, from migrating users in offices across Texas from one email platform to another without any downtime to designing a corporate Intranet that provided better communication and more efficient file sharing to moving JMEG’s outgrown accounting server to a virtual environment.I would welcome the opportunity to work with a mid-size company overseeing and managing the IT Department, training, and mentoring staff and helping the company be as efficient and computer problem free as possible.
