At PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency and Utrecht University I am a policy researcher in the field of international climate change, where I assess domestic climate- and energy policies of large countries, non-state actors (cities, regions, businesses, including financial institutions), and policies that are linked with climate change. This position enables me to combine my background in business mathematics and environmental science. In this work I have an analytical and critical attitude and try to achieve results in a pragmatic way. In the projects I work on I try to reach good results by combining content and knowledge with focusing on efficient team work. Therefore I prefer to work in a project-based manner where I find it important to find a good balance between high quality and time management. In general I like to work in the field of sustainability with a focus on environmental and financial issues. I have working experience in both the financial sector and in environmental policy. The first years of my working life I have spent as a financial risk manager. In that period, a new way of assessing financial risks was introduced, and I enjoyed introducing and implementing these concepts. This meant both convincing management and other colleagues of this new method together with building tools to give a clear insight into the financial risks. I find sustainability a very important subject as this brings people together to ensure long-term flourishing of our world. It also is a very interesting subject because many different backgrounds are involved, both professional and cultural.
