Obsessed with the Internet of Things since late 2015 having read about the amazing work of The Things Network and more locally the Oxford Flood Network.Studied Smart Cities with Kings College and initiated The Things Network in Reading, helping to grow a free to use wireless data network across Reading, used by a thriving community of makers, artists, students, organisations and businesses all interested in shaping the smart city agenda of our town.Started Thingitude as a means of developing community-led Internet of Things innovation, and has helped promote The Things Network and IoT across the UK. Proud to be an approved supplier of Internet of Things networks and services to the public sector through Digital Marketplace.Primarily working with Local Authorities across England and Wales on a wide range of IoT use cases aiming to improve service delivery and quality of life for the people who live and work in the region. Now (2024) living by the sea in East Sussex, starting The Things Network Hastings and devising creative ways to use IoT to monitor sewage releases into the sea. Prior to the Internet of Things, I enjoyed designing, delivering and occasionally rescuing strategic IT programmes and projects for Public Sector and Financial Services organisations. I have always been excited about improving public sector services. I'm very keen to ensure citizens influence the Smart City agenda where they live and work, and preserve local identity and culture.
