Lead Technician
The Computer Cellar
Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina Area
As Lead Technician, I have optimized or replaced several processes to allow the business to perform new types of repairs, increase our working capacity, and reduce turnaround time for customers. To expedite Windows installation jobs, I maintain virtual machines of each common version of Windows and create generalized WIM files from them. I keep these system image files current with the latest available service packs and periodically apply Windows Updates to further reduce download and install times. This allows us to save 45 minutes on an average installation. By downloading OS updates once instead of each time they are needed for a job, the network isn’t overloaded with unnecessary traffic.I built and programmed a small reflow oven for some types of circuit board repairs. This created a new source of revenue for the business, as previously either these types of repairs were outsourced to a third party, or we would have to order a replacement part. By providing this service in-house, we are better able to ensure the quality of the work, reduce the cost to customers, and return the repaired devices more quickly.I primarily specialize in data recovery and board level repairs, such as replacing faulted or broken components. My experience and changes to the shop’s standard operating procedures have significantly expanded The Computer Cellar's ability to offer these services.I have also implemented troubleshooting best practices to avoid unnecessary time and materials costs, and standardized diagnostic processes to proactively identify problems with customers’ machines. This allows us to provide an efficient, affordable model of customer service that our clients benefit from every day.
