The role revolved around the management of operations in a potassium chloride refinery. The position was focused on ensuring that the necessary resources and planning were available to maintain plant production and efficiency.

Responsibilities included the identification and management of projects specifically targeted at improving the performance of the refinery.

Was responsible for the research and development of a novel processing technology to improve the yield from a coal processing operation at the Goedehoop colliery in Witbank.

Completed the computer modelling of the refinery using steady state mass balancing packages, JK Metsim and SysCAD. Was also involved in numerous research and development innovations, resulting in additional plant capacity and increased revenues.

Completed a graduate training scheme, which led to Chartered Engineer Status. This centred on the acquisition of experience in Operational Management, i.e., the management of process plants and projects.

Completed vacation work in South Africa as part of the requirements for my university first degree. Optimised a gold refining process, generating additional annual revenues.
