We also worked with UNDP GEF and Syrian authorities to set up protected areas in Syria at Jebel Abdul Aziz (desert) and Abu Quibes (montane maquis forest).North Carolina (1998): two months’ work at Sylvan Heights Wildfowl Park assisting in rearing rare and endangered wildfowl for conservation projects worldwide.Falkland Islands (1997/98): six months’ work on the Islands as a tour guide for Falklands Island Development Company, supplemented with field survey work at sites seeking RAMSAR qualification for wildfowl and seabird assemblages.Armenia (1995): worked on Birds of Armenia project, based in Yerevan, Armenia for seven months at American University of Armenia in partnership with Muhlenberg College, Pennsylvania, undertaking fieldwork and data collection for the first ornithological survey of this newly declared nation.
