I am head of the Outward Bound Ullswater and Howtown Centres. Alongside these areas I always seek to include an additional vital ingredient - Fun!Over the past few years, I have been instrumental in delivering a number of key projects relating to the areas above. These reflect my commitment to delivering our strategy.Projects include:* Management restructure designed to increase the impact of our work on young people.* £3.6 million redevelopment of centre infrastructure providing distinct 'zones' to enhance young people's learning.* Embedding a 'Working in Partnership' process in to our delivery that offers 6 distinct areas designed to increase development for young people and promote CPD for visiting staff and Outward Bound staff.* Introducing Employability to Outward Bound courses that makes better use of our equipment stores for learning - incorporating commercial awareness, planning/organising and time management.* Establishing and Chairing the Trustwide Technical Group. This is made up of technical experts from inside and outside of the Trust to give advice to Heads of Centre's on matters relating to land based adventurous activity. Show less

Guiding scientists in the Dronning Maud Land nunatacks of East Antarctica. The work involved 900km of skidoo based travel involving mobile field camps to locate bassalt dykes for research on Gondwana break up.

Work involving activity in the Restalrig, Lochend and Craigentinny communities of Edinburgh. This included, running after school clubs, youth clubs, school referral projects, mentoring for young people and action research projects involving local people.

This role covered three main areas1) Pre deployment training for field based personnel including glacier travel and camp craft.2) Guiding scientists undertaking botanical research up nunatacks on Antarctic peninsula islands and in west Antarctica.3) Managing Sky Blue - a deep field 'blue ice' runway and logistics base in support of field parties further South.
