I'm the main point of contact for everything related to Ill Health Liability Insurance within Hymans Robertson. The insurance was created in partnership by Hymans Robertson and Legal & General and helps to mitigate ill health early retirement risks for employers LGPS. As the product expert within the Firm (with the somewhat unflattering nickname, 'Mr Ill Health'), my role is varied. We have over 400 individual policyholders, split across around 20 LGPS Pension Funds. Given the number of stakeholders, a large part of my role relates to managing these relationships, ensuring clients understand the insurance and receive a great service. I have a fantastic position within the Firm which gives me the opportunity to work with some of our best and brightest talent across multiple departments, including our wider Public Sector actuarial , Third Party Administration, Marketing and IT teams (amongst others). There's never a day that goes by without me learning something from one of my colleagues. I also have a partnering relationship with the great team at Legal & General, including underwriters, administrators, customer service consultants and claims assessors. It really does feel like we are one big team working towards a common goal of ensuring we exceed our clients' expectations.I'm also a member of the firm's Diversity & Inclusion group, helping in progressing awareness of diversity and inclusion to ensure that everyone in the firm feels a genuine sense of belonging and opportunity.

During my time as an actuarial student in Hymans Robertson's Public Sector team I obtained a real grounding in all things LGPS pensions related. I was responsible for several LGPS client accounts, delivering various calculations for clients including producing accounting reports and carrying out valuations. I also gained exposure to a variety of different projects such as working on the 2014 LGPS Scheme reforms, drafting accounting reports, having responsibility for an online calculation tool used by our clients and working on our Ill Health Liability Insurance team. I was also involved in graduate recruitment and training of new team members.

Carrying out administration duties relating to Tax Credits benefit, including communications with benefit recipients.

Outbound calls to potential, existing and former customers of well known service providers, converting leads to sales.

Completing execution only sharedealing transactions for clients in a fast paced call centre environment.

Inbound sales and customer service advisor, dealing with home and travel insurance.

Inbound call centre role handling emergency services (999) and operator (100) service calls.
