I am PhD student in Computer Science working on the project of Tag and Word clouds as means of navigation support in social systems. The objectives of my PhD project are development of novel tag selection methods in order to improve relevance, coverage and diversity of generated word clouds. Currently, we are focusing on summarization of social media data in particular how to personalize word cloud generation with respect to user preferences, how to enrich summarization with recognized named entities and development of topic maps for enhanced exploration of social network information space. Further, I have developed several prototypes using different open source software and platforms J2EE framework, Primefaces, JQuery, Apache Solr, ElasticSearch, Apache Mahout, etc.I like my PhD project as I have had an opportunity to get familiar with several interesting areas of Computer Science such as Information Retrieval, Recommendation Systems, Natural Language Processing and Data mining.

I was developing and designing word clouds and recommendation components for the medical personalized event-based surveillance project MECO. The aim of the project was to harvest social media data from different sources and exploit them as complementary reporting mechanism for medical surveillance experts. The project consortium consisted of several research groups from Europe. In our group in Aalborg, we were focused on adaptive tuning and personalization. Proposed a personalized word clouds generation from tweets exploiting different user past actions (retweets, implicit feedback, etc.). Designed and implemented a Beomap system - a visual topic map for browsing and exploring social media data. Awarded with Amazon research grant.
