Mary Moloney Email and Phone Number
I read recently that the early years script adulthood. How true. Decisions and actions taken in early childhood determine children's life chances. That is why I have a keen interest in how early childhood education and care policy translates into practice in the every day context of early childhood settings. I am also committed to inclusion, the topic of my latest book (co-authored with Eucharia McCarthty) which can be read in its entirety at https://rdcu.be/4ftA My other big interest is the professionalisation of the early childhood workforce and the factors that impact upon this journey. I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with Dr. Marcy Whitebook and Dr. Lea Austin at the Centre for the Study of Childcare Employment, Institute for Research on Labour and Employment, University of California, Berkeley from September to November, 2018 as we engage in innovative collaborative work to examine how educator's programme environment contributes to, or hinders, their ability to apply their knowledge and skills and, improve their practice.

ManagerSilver Apples Creche, University Of Limerick Nov 1999 - Feb 2003Silver Apples was established as an employer demonstration model in November 1999. I established the creche from the beginning where I was responsible for 15 staff and 50 children aged from 3 months to school going age. This involved the establishment and implementation of all policies and procedures, and an early years curriculum for the creche. As the creche catered for the children of students and staff at UL, I gained a unique insight into the challenges for students parents in terms of marrying study committments with child rearing responsibilities.
