I have worked as a hospital Pharmacy Technician since 1986. I've prepared routine IV's such as antibiotics, filled Unit Dose carts and compounded medications such as creams and ointments. I've prepared parenteral nutrition IV bags primarily for intensive care patients and chemotherapy IV's for oncology patients. I've also worked as the pharmacy purchaser, and as the narcotic technician. Today I work for a hospital and I manage the pyxis machines. I love technology and I find this job to be exciting and challenging. Patient safety is my number one goal and I feel pyxis is a good tool to use, to achieve this. Of course a machine is only as good as the person who operates it. That is why my job is so important. I am there to monitor and make sure things are being done safely and correctly. In 2007, Scottsdale Healthcare opened a new hospital. I was asked to go there and set up the pharmacy and the pyxis machines in all the new nursing areas. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity which I found to be very exciting. It was a true learning experience that I will never forget. I am very proud and grateful I had the opportunity to be a part of it.Specialties: Automated Dispensing Systems, Narcotic Procedures
