As a 4-year Army ROTC scholarship winner to NYU, I fulfill my obligations to Fordham University's Yankee Battalion by attending physical training sessions, field training exercises, military science class, and Army laboratory. From these endeavors, I establish fundamental leadership and military skills, which will aid me in commissioning as a second lieutenant officer in the United States Army. Currently, I serve as the First Sergeant of Bravo Company, the senior-most non-commissioned officer position at the company level, where I lead and mentor over 30 cadets from various schools across the New York metropolitan area.

As President and Editor-in-Chief of the NYU Journal of Medicine & Law (NYUJML), I lead a team of over 100 student members in advancing interdisciplinary dialogue between pre-health and pre-law students. Under my leadership, NYUJML has established itself as NYU's foremost undergraduate publication, serving as a platform for intellectual discourse and creative expression on complex healthcare and legal policy issues. By integrating these diverse perspectives, the journal addresses some of the most critical challenges facing our world today, while promoting innovative solutions and elevating meaningful discussions across both disciplines.

As a student researcher at the Program On Regulation, Therapeutics, And Law (PORTAL), housed within the Division of Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomics at Harvard Medical School and Brigham & Women's Hospital, I have the privilege of working under the mentorship of Dr. Aaron S. Kesselheim, MD, JD, MPH, the program's Director. PORTAL examines how law and policy influence the development, regulation, and affordability of therapeutics, including prescription drugs and medical devices. My current research investigates the Orphan Drug Act (ODA), particularly the litigation and legal precedents that inform its application and interpretation. This includes an analysis of the ODA's role in securing market exclusivity for pharmaceutical manufacturers, its function as an incentive for companies to develop treatments for rare diseases, and its contribution to monopolistic practices in the pharmaceutical industry.

As a student editor at the Journal of Law, Medicine & Ethics (JLME), a leading peer-reviewed publication at the forefront of law, health policy, ethics, and medicine, published by Cambridge University Press in partnership with the American Society of Law, Medicine & Ethics (ASLME), I assist with a range of editorial tasks. My responsibilities include assisting with manuscript review, organizing data, preparing materials, and providing research support. This role enhances my editorial proficiency while also strengthening my leadership as Editor-in-Chief of the NYU Journal of Medicine and Law (NYUJML). Through this position, I continue to expand my expertise at the intersection of medicine, law, and policy, advancing my aspirations to make meaningful contributions to these disciplines.

At NYU Langone's Department of Emergency Medicine and Bellevue Hospital, under Principal Investigator Dr. Ryan McCormack, I support the Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral to Treatment, Opioid Education, and Naloxone Distribution (SBIRT-OEND) study on substance use disorders. My role involves patient screening, data management with REDCap, and assisting with clinical research initiatives. Through this position, I gain valuable insights into the treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD), social determinants of health, and risk management in the emergency department.

As a volunteer with the Patient Advocacy Volunteer Program in Emergency Room Services (PAVERS) at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue and NYU Langone, I support patient care in the emergency department. My responsibilities include assisting with patient ambulation, meal support, and hospital escorting. I rotate through adult, pediatric, and urgent care services, assisting staff with structured tasks, including organizing medical carts and managing biological specimens. This role offers hands-on experience in patient advocacy and clinical care within an emergency setting.

I have the privilege of shadowing and receiving mentorship from Dr. Ariel Ostad, a distinguished triple board-certified dermatologist, dermatologic surgeon, and facial cosmetic surgeon, as well as a Clinical Associate Professor at the NYU Langone Department of Dermatology. As a first-generation NYU alumnus, Dr. Ostad provides invaluable guidance through the NYU Wasserman First-Generation Professional Development Mentoring Program. My responsibilities include shadowing Dr. Ostad in clinical and surgical settings, gaining exposure to advanced dermatological practices, surgical techniques, and patient care. This experience broadens my understanding of patient treatment and provides valuable insights into clinical decision-making and patient management.

Over the course of two semesters, I will enhance my career planning skills, expand my professional network, and engage in monthly career development events, all designed to facilitate a successful transition from academia to the professional realm.

Privileged to have interned under the guidance of Dr. Adarsh Vijay Mudgil, recognized as one of New York's Super Doctors, at Mudgil Dermatology. This experience provided me with comprehensive insights into dermatology and dermatopathology through extensive shadowing and observership. My responsibilities included maintaining a sterile environment and supporting the clinic's operational efficiency, enhancing my understanding of clinical practices through direct interaction with staff and patients.

As a clinical research assistant, I collaborated with Dr. Santiago Lopez and Dr. Edith Burns from the Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, contributing significantly to a project centered on improving communication between chaplaincy services and hospital-based palliative care. My responsibilities encompassed conducting patient interviews, performing chart reviews, analyzing data, and preparing research write-ups. This work culminated in an abstract that has been submitted to the 2025 Annual Assembly of Hospice and Palliative Care.

As an Administrative Intern to the Chief of Staff for the Military Staff Committee at the United States delegation to the United Nations, the U.S. Mission to the United Nations (USUN), I provided administrative support to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Military Staff Committee's operations. By integrating my academic foundation in public health with foreign policy, I learned strategies to address healthcare challenges specific to both the military peacekeeping community and diverse populations around the world.

Designed for students dedicated to public service, this highly selective cohort-based summer program encompassed peer-review, self-reflection, guided writing exercises, case studies, and professional networking with experts in various public service fields. I explored potential career pathways, developed a comprehensive action plan, and assessed how my ideas and research could drive social impact and benefit communities locally, nationally, and globally.

As a legislative intern in the Department of Constituent Affairs, specializing in military and veterans affairs, for Senator Kirsten E. Gillibrand (D-NY), I advocated on behalf of New York veterans and service members to secure vital benefits and facilitate access to essential resources. My responsibilities included managing casework, responding to constituent inquiries, answering phone calls, sorting mail, and facilitating service academy nominations. Drawing on my background in public health, I contributed to enhancing healthcare support and ensuring disability benefits for veterans and active-duty military personnel.

As an Army ROTC cadet, I was selected to participate in the Department of Defense-funded Project Global Officer (GO) program in the summer of 2023. This prestigious program provided a fully-funded opportunity to study Modern Standard Arabic in Muscat, Oman. Through immersive language education and cross-cultural experiences, I developed essential linguistic and intercultural communication skills. The program enhanced my capacity to navigate diverse cultural environments and lead effectively in complex, multinational environments.

As a participant in The Canon Solutions America Future Authors Project, I refined my writing skills through workshops and peer feedback, culminating in my achievement as a published author with the release of “Emergence.” This book celebrated the Jericho School District's resilience and perseverance following the COVID-19 pandemic, reflecting the joy and connection experienced during the first in-person workshop in over a year. The publication and book launch event marked a significant achievement, celebrating collaboration, creativity, and camaraderie among students and educators.

Conducted research within the Department of Geology, Environment, and Sustainability at Hofstra University under the supervision of Dr. Sandra Garren and Professor Annetta Centrella-Vitale. Utilized ArcGIS Pro software to perform a geospatial analysis of the distribution of fast-food franchises, poverty levels, and diabetes rates in Nassau County, Long Island. The research aimed to investigate the correlation between contemporary dietary patterns, socioeconomic status, and the incidence of diabetes.
