Journeyman
CurrentApprentice to owner Chris Yerke, a master builder who specializes in historically sensitive restoration projects. Chris is a virtuosic woodworker with an encyclopedic knowledge of many prominent architectural traditions. We primarily build from long-forgotten stashes of old growth “sinker” redwood, as was typically used during the Bay Area’s earlier development. As a native-born San Franciscan, it has been a dream come true to work on restoring a couple of the city’s residential gems, including 618 Baker Street, a four-story Victorian, and 90 Woodland Avenue, otherwise known as the “Darling House,” which was designed by Richard Neutra, one of the foremost contributors to the Modern Movement in the United States.
